Check out this seminar that I will be attending this coming new year. This is a jam pack clinic with 3 very qualified instructors giving a hand on martial arts workshop from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The cost is only $10 and lunch is included.

Here are the info:

January 30 from 10am to 4pm, hosted by Calvary Chapel Macedon. This event will feature three martial arts instructors who have extensive backgrounds in several of the arts. They will be doing hands-on workshops throughout the day, allowing attendees to be directly involved in the action. The event is open to the public for anyone ages 13 and up, and the cost is only $10 for those who pre-register before January 24, 2010. Lunch will be provided. Since this will be a hands-on style clinic, please wear comfortable attire (loose fitting clothing such as sweat pants/sweat shirts). Sneakers are the preferred footware. Please avoid clothing that has metal zippers and/or buttons to preserve the mats. Questions may be directed to Steve Popen at 585-398-3550.

Featuring Dr. Les Moore, Allan Neals and Rob Simons

Dr. Les Moore has had a lifelong interest in American Catch Wrestling and has studied a number of major lineages. This submission grappling art can be used for sport, defensive measures, or combatives. He will be teaching the class “American Catch Wrestling: Lessons from Billy ‘Pops’ Wicks.” He authored the DVD episode “American Catch Wrestling” produced by Modern Knives Video. He teaches at the Western Martial Arts Workshop in Racine, Wisconsin, and has been published in Western Martial Arts Illustrated. Dr. Moore currently serves as the Director of Integrative Medicine at Clifton Springs Hospital.

Allan Neels currently owns Neel’s Isshin Ryu Karate & Self-defense School in Webster, NY. Al received his 2nd degree black belt in 1994 and is registered with Master Kichiro Shimabuku as a certified instructor. He is also a member of the Isshin Ryu World Karate Association (IWKA). Sensei Al started training from high school wrestling to Judo classes until 1986 when he started training in Isshin Ryu Karate. He has studied Isshin Ryu for 23 years and specializes in sparring and self-defense. Al has a passion for youth ministry and has actively participated in teen ministry for over 20 years. He currently serves at Calvary Chapel Rochester in the Youth Ministry program.

Rob Simons is the Chief Instructor of the Eastern United States Chapter of the World Sikaran Brotherhood of the Philippines. He is a seventh degree black belt in the Filipino martial art of Sikaran Arnis under Grandmaster Colonel Meliton Geronimo of Baras Rizal, Philippines. Rob is a former World Heavyweight Champion of Sikaran. He will be teaching Weapons Defense and Disarms from Sikaran Arnis. He authored the DVD episode “Sikaran Arnis” produced by Modern Knives Video. Rob is the owner and CEO of the company Surface Tech Inc.
