Last week was a striking week with focus on the Muay Thai and Boxing. It was also the fourth of July weekend, which means we work hard Monday and Wednesday and then we have Friday off to enjoy the festivites of the weekend.
On Monday we started off with conditioning which included shadow boxing, push-ups, sit-outs, and a couple different Budokon exercises. We practiced knees, punches, and kicks on the Thai pads and combined these attacks to create some pretty awesome combos. Read more
June 23-27, 2008
Last week was one of the best weeks I’ve had in a while. Monday and Wednesday the class was doing Judo and Grappling which was well needed practice considering I was going to Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Friday with Mong. We also started doing Budokon conditioning workouts to start out the class. They’re pretty strenuous exercises that work your core as well as other parts of your body. Friday was the best part part of the week, though. For one, I’ve only been to Canada once and that was a family vacation trip to Niagara Falls. Plus, I was going to be able to meet Mohammed Khorrami and Fred Garcia, two experts in two different martial arts. Read more
Class Journel - June 16-20, 2008
Since this is my first journal I would like to introduce myself. My name is Zachary Brautigam and I’m a student in Mong Phu’s Fusion MMA Class. Participating in the class is the best decision I’ve made and I never regret coming to class and learning what Mong teaches. That being said, last week we focused on mainly Judo because Mong is going to get his official black belt from Mohammad Khorrami in Judo and thought it would be a good time to teach the basic mechanics. Judo is known for it’s throws so the class learned how to execute a proper basic hip throw with Mong critiquing us as we performed them.
